Lots of us feel crappy about our bodies or our eating habits or our health. We imagine that if we just start this new diet or if maybe we could lose a bunch of weight, everything would be better.
So we start the latest gluten-free, fish-focused, vegetarian caveman surfer diet, and wow, it works. Maybe we are pretty good about avoiding carbs or sugars or alcohol or whatever for a few weeks. Maybe we do lose some pounds or get stronger. But then we have a stressful week of work, or go on vacation, or just, ugh, can’t deal, and then find ourselves back in our old habits. And now we feel even worse.
It’s not a diet plan. It’s not some total body transformation garbage or mystical realignment practice. At its core, it’s an experiment. Can we come up with another way, a kinder and mentally healthier way, to feel good in our bodies without dieting and without drastic changes to our lifestyles that end up being entirely unsustainable?
We hope to answer that question using the tools and skills we have honed with hundreds and hundreds of clients over the past 20 years.
Who’s this “we” we are talking about?

I am a dietitian, board-certified specialist in sports nutrition, ex-pro athlete, mindful eating expert, lover of all things natural for your health and an unshakable optimist dedicated to helping you become the person you most want to be.
Wendi Dunford, LCSW, LICSW
I am a psychotherapist with 20 years of experience helping people from all walks of life become mentally and emotionally healthy. I too am freakishly optimistic, so combine the two of us and we can melt metal with our cheery dispositions!
Why should you do this?
This is what we can promise: You will start feeling better in 30 days. It might just be a start, but it’ll be the right start. You will be taking Real Steps toward feeling good. Small, systematic, and sustainable steps. You will eat a little better, move a little more, and let go of a few unwanted pounds of emotional baggage.
No big promises, but very solid small progressions that will lead to a new you in 2025! That’s right, it is not REAL to promise big change overnight. It NEVER works – at least on a long-term sustainable basis. We will help you find a sustainable healthier version of yourself where you feel good mentally and physically. We want you to feel effortless fantastic in 2025, so we gotta start here and now to get there.
How does it work?
There are two treatment tiers:
- The Main Group
- The In-Depth Treatment Group
About the Main Group
Sign up, pay a $100 participation fee, and answer some basic questions. We’ll have you sign some consent forms and sign a promise to be cool and kind as a member of the Main Group.
Your registration will then give you access to all the good stuff made just for “The Main Group”. This group will be a bunch of people in the same boat as you (aka soon to be your new healthy best friends.)
The members of the Main Group will receive:
- Access to a private Discord server where we will share and communicate together .
- Weekly live classes on topics that will keep you motivated in your individual path.
- Online support and education provided by Wendi Dunford LICSW and Elena Yorgason RND as well as other potential guests.
- Daily challenges, inspiration, conversation, and support in your 30 days of taking Real Steps toward feeling better.
These classes will incorporate the same things we do with the folks in the other treatment tier, but instead of individualized treatment, the group will work together as a cohort. Group support is crucial for success, so we hope to make this a really fun, helpful, nice place to be and learn together.
About the In-Depth Treatment Group
The second tier is the In-Depth Treatment Group. Depending on the total number of people who sign up for the RealSteps 30-Day Challenge, we’ll have the means to work with 2-4 people individually and in-depth both nutritionally and psycho-social-emotionally. The goal is to help them (maybe it will be you!) feel good in their bodies and minds and to continue on that path until it’s just part of who they are.
What this small group can expect:
- All of the collaboration offered in the Main Group.
- plus 4 individual psychotherapy sessions with Wendi
- and a full nutritional analysis and nutrition counseling with Elena.
To be chosen to receive the In-Depth Treatment, you must fill out all the same things as the Main Group, as well as check the box that indicates that you are interested in the In-Depth Treatment.
We are looking for people who are willing to work hard with us and are committed to sharing their honest feedback and opinions, as well as comply with requests for both pre-and post-testing, potentially including longer-term follow-ups.
As a recipient of this treatment, you will be guaranteed the right to complete confidentiality; however, we do hope that you will be willing to share parts of your experience with the Main Group to support the Main Group’s work together. Though that is entirely up to you.
This treatment tier is worth approximately $1500 per person. However, those chosen will have only paid the initial $100 fee, like everyone else. No further costs will be charged unless you need some blood work done for some reason, then you’ll have to cover any costs associated with that.
What this means is that everyone who pays the $100 fee not only gets all the good therapeutic stuff (in group form) but also graciously subsidizes the 2 to 4 people who will do the in-depth treatment cohort.
